Cultural Celebration – Acadian Showcase
Celebrating Communities presents a night of cultural celebration. This high-energy evening will display Nova Scotia's diversity and rich culture. It is hosted by the Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse (CDÉNÉ), community of Yarmouth and the Acadian regions of Clare and Argyle.- Ryan Doucette offering his humoristic skits in the art of corporal mime and inspired by the happenings of everyday life. The perfectly calculated body movements, his acrobatics, facial expressions, and other gestures, combined with the skillful sound effects that accompany them, make his performance a highly entertaining and original tour de force.
- La Baie en Joie allowing you to be swept away to the haunting sounds of the violins and the beckoning sounds of dancing feet in a show vibrant with colour.
- Grand Dérangement, our very own award-winning group is very eclectic in its musical approach, drawing from such disparate musical inspiration as French chansonniers, folk, Celtic, rock, and Broadway. The rhythms are contagious, the dancers enthralling. The group builds a bridge between the old and the new, between the local and the universal. Grand Dérangement is creating a new Acadian musical repertoire, one that will survive for as long as Acadian culture remains alive and vital.
